Handyperson Service

To help maintain people in their own homes, to increase home safety and security and to help prevent accidents South Ayrshire Care and Repair offers a handyperson service.  It can help with:

• Relocating furniture or heavy items within the property

• Changing light bulbs

• Putting up shelves, curtain rails or changing curtains

• Build up flat pack items

• Fixing door and cupboard handles

• Installing draught excluders

• Simple electrical jobs (e.g. changing a fuse, rewiring a plug)

• Simple plumbing work (e.g. unblocking ‘U’ pipes, fixing tap washer)

• Fitting safety chains/peepholes

• Door bells

• Minor adaptations

• Small area painting e.g. window frames

Unfortunately the service is unable to help with gardening, decorating, repairing white goods or general cleaning services. 

The service is available to all people over the age of 60 or all who are vulnerable and referred to us by social work or health.  There will be a charge for materials.   For more information about the service please contact us.
